Moving again...

Thanks for the comments ladies--keep them coming--like I said we have done this before, but I still like to get all the hints I can before we do it again.

We did get our RFO (Request for Orders) yesterday so we are at least getting somewhere now.

Here are Shane's solutions--we shall see how they actually pan out
1) Let the Army ship the car instead of Volvo because even though Volvo says it is free shipment, it's only free if we send it from Sweden--to send it from Aviano will be 843Euro!!!
2) Let the Army ship the car to Orlando--10 weeks early so it for sure will meet us there (oh and then our plane tickets are for sure free cuz the Army flies us to where the car is)
3) Buy another hooptie (so we will have 2 crappy cars) for that 10 weeks and then resell it so we won't have to pay for a rental, but we will still have enough car space for everyone.

Next is deciding what to put in which shipment... oh the fun of overseas moves.

I don't really have any advice on the car thing...thats the major frustration of moving overseas... But what helped me with the pack out (and eventual unpacking) was investing in jumbo ziplocks, (big enough to stuff your kids in!) In one I put all our shoes, so all the pairs would stay together. In some others I put all the little toys that I didin't want seperated into many boxes. When it came time to unpack, I just dumped the toys out and let the boys play while I worked on a real box. But maybe you all ready knew this hint, being a pro and all. Pack out as soon as you can, because they have furniture to borrow there, but not stateside. We sent our dished and bathroom stuff in the faster shipment and everything else the other way. And be prepared for the unpack here...in italy they disassembeled EVERYTHING! and my lazy movers here (I'm sorry, but they were some of the worst ever) did not want to reassemble everything, and did it only when I pratically threw a fit(I had no idea which box my tools were in, nor how to put things together with a 6 month old in my arms all the time!). As it was they left out some screws on Liams bed and now it falls apart every few months! Anyway, just watch where they put all the hardware for everything the decide they need to take apart, taping to the bottom would be best...and make sure you know where the tools end up! :-)
