Sick, sick, sick...

Poor little Dillan--he was so sick last night. About 7 we were finishing dinner--he was hardly eating anything which is really not like him and all of a sudden he threw up all over his highchair--eeww. Then he spent the next 2 hours vomiting about every 15 min.--it was a total of 10 times and then he went to bed and did it 2 more times before he was done. He finally fell asleep and stayed asleep at about 11:30 and slept till 7. Today he was feeling better--a slight fever didn't eat a lot--some. He did drink though so that's good. He slept quite a bit and snuggled--that part was nice. Tonight he was getting to be more himself and now he's sleeping so hopefully he is over it. It wasn't a very fun evening.

I feel terrible! I didn't think you were still blogging. I thought I was supposed to get an email when you blogged. Anyway...I'm all caught up now. I'll try to check in with you more often. Meghan as a tiger is the cutest thing EVER!

It's been a while...

I have just been busy I guess. Not with anything in particular--just life with 4 little ones.
Katie and I went to a "Fancy Tea Party" this past weekend for Daisies. It was so fun and the girls were so cute--all decked out in their Easter dresses, gloves, and hats. Yes, they even had hats for the Moms to wear--I will say mine didn't stay on much longer than to take a picture though. We really drank tea and we had all the finger foods--wraps, sandwiches with no crusts cut into shapes, fruits and all kinds of desserts and goodies. The girls also made a purse with craft foam and did a pinata. It was a great time--I do have pictures which I promise to post tonight, but I don't have enough time right now.
While we were at the tea party, Brendan was on a Cub Scout hike--he went with his den and had a great time. And the 2 little ones were at home with a sitter. I really found out how much support I have around here that day--2 different families offered Brendan a ride (didn't even have to ask) and then a sitter from a third family--gotta love that. And Meghan keeps asking when April gets to come back.
This is bittersweet--it's so cute, but yet breaks my heart--Dillan keeps looking at the front door and saying DADA and waving. He really misses him already--don't know what we will do when this all turns into a significant amount of time--Oh and for those of you who don't know--Shane is in Germany--should be back for Easter though.
Meghan is doing much better. At playgroup this morning she was involved in every activity and was full of smiles and giggles and having a great time--it was really nice to see.
I know there is more that I wanted to write about, but I can't think right now--we are on our way out to a meeting--maybe I will think of it later--I know I have some pictures to put up so I will try to do that all tonight.

Odds and Ends

Dillan is officially a walker now!!! He has been capable of walking for months--but didn't want to. Now the past 3 days he is walking more than crawling--or should I say scooting He is so cute doing it too! And really steady--we were outside on the grass and he was walking fine. I'll try and tape a clip and post in later if I can.
We went to playgroup this morning--both of the little ones love it--and Meghan made a new friend. Her name is Emily and she will be 4 in a couple of weeks. They both have dark hair and are the same stature--the "teachers" kept getting them mixed up. Anyway it was so nice to see Meghan playing with a friend. They were running around and holding hands--shared a chair for snack, etc. She also has a little brother who is 8 days older than Dillan. We plan on getting together for playdates with them. Should be fun.
Here is my new research project: Volvo XC90! I think maybe I will get one around Christmas. We just don't have enough room in our car for kids and a stroller or luggage or groceries for that matter. I'm still looking into it, but I found out I can trade our car in so that is a plus. And of course Shane is deploying so I have to buy a car right?? I told him maybe he won't deploy as often if he knows I will buy a car everytime First I have to pay off the Home Equity Loan on our MN house first. Hopefully that will be in Dec.--thus the Christmas timeframe for a new car. I think I'll let Shane have some input this time though and basically pick it out before he leaves so I just have to order it when I am ready. I'll keep you posted!
Not much else going on around here...just about time to get the big ones off the bus though so I better go. Have a great Wednesday!!!

Frustration over kids rooms!!!

I got an email from Shane yesterday--just said he was in Kuwait waiting for a flight to Afghanistan and that he would be out of communication for a few days. Not much info, but enough that I know he is safe and that's all I need.
The kids and I are doing pretty well. Not a lot exciting going on just normal day to day stuff, but we aren't feeling as much stress right now so that is a good thing.
I'm still thinking on the bedroom/playroom situation for the 3 little kids. I just don't know what I want to do. I really wish we had one more room, but that is not the case. Meghan just really makes things difficult. She is a little messmaker so Katie doesn't like to share with her--of course lately Katie's room is a disaster area too. And Meghan doesn't sleep well so no one else can sleep in her room either--she turns on lights and gets up and plays and stuff. Katie will sleep through anything once she is asleep though so as long as I put Meghan to bed after her it shouldn't be a problem--unless she's really loud which she usually isn't. I don't know if Dillan would sleep through it though. If anyone has any input or ideas, I will certainly take them--what we are doing now just isn't working that well.
My schedule is going much better. I still don't have everything in place yet, but have really been paying attention to my natural tendencies toward how I spend my time--how I should be spending it--and what I need to accomplish each day. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get caught up on some decluttering in the kids rooms (big part of the problem they have too much stuff) and then that will free me up to do other things I need/want to do this coming week. The big thing that has been making a difference is "forcing" myself up in the morning to do a Bible study first thing. My day goes so much smoother when I start that way--both because of giving the day to God, but also because I am up and ready to start on things before the kids are up. The more I can get done first thing while they are sleeping the better. This morning I even made Oatmeal/Blueberry Muffins for breakfast--they were really good and my kids want them everyday
Well speaking of getting things done, I guess I better quit blogging and go do some stuff--have to go to the commissary for sure--we are out of everything!!

Exercise

This past fall/winter I was doing a pretty good job of hitting the gym. There is a program here called "Toddler in Tow" As long as kids are in a stroller, they are welcome in the cardio room so... Dillan and I would take Meghan to Asilo and then hit the gym. It was great! Well now I have little miss "I can't leave Mommy's hip" so I can't do that anymore--I don't know how much longer Dillan would sit anyway. So I finally talked Shane into an elliptical trainer. I have been researching them today and think I have it narrowed down to 3. The big problem I have is that I have to order it from the PX because no where else is going to ship something that big over here so I am limited in my choices. I should be able to order one this week. We will have extra money this month since Shane will be headed to a combat zone tomorrow--the only good thing about deployments--extra cash.
Meghan woke me up in the middle of the night last night saying her ear hurt and then this morning when she got up she said it still hurts. So we have been hanging out at home today--we needed to anyway so it was a good excuse. I just hope her ear starts feeling better--I will have to take her in to the clinic tomorrow if it doesn't. I'm not rushing because she doesn't have fever or anything so I'm giving it a chance. Our Dr. here has told me 2 different times that Dillan's ears have looked red and stuff, but she doesn't prescribe anything without a fever so I'm not bothering to take her now. I really don't want to give her drugs if I don't have to anyway.
Ok so I'm getting all domestic around here. I have decided I really like to bake bread. I have made 3 loaves in the past week or so. Whole wheat, Italian Herb and today plain ole White. They all turned out great. There is something about kneading it and letting it rise and then smelling it bake that just makes me happy. I was talking to Shane about it last night and he thinks it's great that I want to do it. Now if I could just be domestic enough to get the house in order On that front though I have another idea for the kids' rooms. We have so far had Dillan and Brendan with their own rooms and the girls sharing and then we moved Dillan and Meghan around so that Dillan and Katie share and Meghan and Brendan have their own. Well nothing is working out great for us so my new idea is leave Brendan alone--he needs his privacy now and to put the 3 other kids all in the same room only for sleeping and dressing. Then I want to take all their toys and make them a playroom in the other room. I think it just might work. I wll have to stagger bedtimes for Meghan and Dillan or else she will bother him, but that isn't a problem. This way though there is never someone who can't play or get their toys while he is asleep and the girls' toys will all be together so there will never be Meghan messing up Katie's room to get her stuff. I'm gonna run this all by Shane tonight and see if he is up for moving the furniture and setting up the bunkbeds for the girls. Probably not tonight since it's his last night home, but maybe when he gets back.--and before he leaves again--boy this stinks!
Well Dillan has just discovered Mommy's purse so I guess that's it for today.

Shane is home!!!

He got home last night around 7 and has been home ever since! I can't believe it a real weekend. The kids spent last night going through all Daddy's new Army toys last night. He got all of his equipment issued yesterday so they were all having a good time--it just makes me nervous. Then this morning we got up and had sourdough pancakes--thank you so much Becky and Dale!! My family is eccstatic to have them again! Shane did have a couple of things to do at work, but he took the 2 big kids with him and wasn't gone more than a couple of hours. So that wasn't bad. We have all played outside and now Dillan is taking a nap, Brendan and Meghan are chasing lizards--killing them for $1 a piece we are being overrun--and Daddy and Katie are working on her train set. Leaves Mommy with some much needed free time so I thought I would blog a minute.
We are also going to a BBQ this afternoon and Shane will be home all day tomorrow!! YEA!! Unfortunately he leaves on Monday for Afghanistan and then Germany. He will be gone about a month I think. We are sad, but we are happy he is here this weekend! Well, Dillan is awake now so I need to go and get him some lunch. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend--we are!!!
