Moving... it's real!

Yes, it is actually, really and truly happening. We now have orders--a flight date (5 July), a date for household goods pickup (5 May), and a date for unaccompanied baggage pickup (25 June). Now we have to work on dates to ship the car and go into the hotel--as well as some other smaller things like clearing quarters. The kids are going to have a GREAT Spring Break thanks to all of this. I have decided to take one with them a day and go through EVERY SINGLE THING THEY OWN and hopefully get rid of ALOT!!

So many things to do for an overseas move--the day can't come quick enough--and yet, it is going to get here really fast.

Family and friends give me a bit and I'll email you the dates we will be taking over your homes:) Or when we will be ready for visitors.--I really can't wait to see you all!!

Firsts and Lasts

Saturday was a day of firsts and lasts around here.

Brendan had his LAST pinewood derby. Next year he will be a Boy Scout--not a Cub Scout so we are done with these until Dillan is in first grade.

Brendan's car was an Indian Canoe. He carved it out, painted it, put on a net, and baskets of fish. It was really well done. He placed ninth overall in the pack--not too bad--and he will probably get a den award, but the computer system messed up at the end of the derby so they have to recreate the data in order for us to hand out those awards :(
Update: He came in 4th in the den--so no award--oh well. We all had a great time!

Here are some of pictures from the Pinewood Derby.

Kathryn celebrated her FIRST Reconciliation. Our little girl is definitely growing up. We are very proud of her. She wasn't nervous at all beforehand and was literally skipping when she left the confessional :) Then she told me Father gave her some "good suggestions" so I guess it was a good experience for her.

For those of you who are interested, her First Communion will be on May 3rd.

Meghan's dress

Here are a couple of pictures of the dress I made for Meghan. And one of Dillan just because he was saying--take my picture too!!

Lago di Fimon

We went on a short little day trip today. We went walk around a lake near us--the only lake near us. We also found a really easy Geocache while we were there--we let Dillan find it:) It was an enjoyable day.

Sewing

Sewing has always been something I thought I would like to do, but either didn't have the time or the patience to learn. Well, a friend of mine makes the cutest dresses for her daughter which I have really admired. Then she made one for Meghan. She makes some of them from old Army uniforms and they are adorable!!! (I'll post a picture next time she wears it) Anyway, I finally asked her where she gets her fabrics and stuff and she gave me the name of the place. Then she even went so far as to give me the pattern she uses. This weekend I'm going to try to make one of "her" dresses. I can't wait.

In the meantime--while I was waiting on fabric to arrive in the mail and such--she gave me some TinkerBell fabric that she was not going to use. I found a simple pattern online and thought I would give it a try. Here is the result--I think Meghan likes it :)

Busy busy busy

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I have just been really busy. The kids finished up basketball and cheerleading--which means I also finished coaching. It was really fun, but I'm glad it's over. I'm trying to scale back now.

I am still a Brownie Leader for Katie and will be until May. That is a lot of fun. We are in cookie season right now so we are running a lot for that--2 more weeks and we will be done:)

I am getting ready to hand over my Cub Scout Pack position. It has been a good thing, but it is time to let it go so I can get someone else trained before we move. I will, of course, still help out with the pack just not in an official capacity.

Brendan has started his baseball practices already--he is playing for the competitive Italian Little League again this year. He really loved it last year so I hope it goes well again. The other 3 kids start baseball the last week of March. Another fun filled sports season! This time we are adding Dillan so it will be even fuller:)

Dillan is daytime potty trained!!! I am so excited!!! The only diapers left in this house are for naps and bedtime! This also means he is ready to start preschool in the fall--yay!

Well, that is what is going on in our lives for now--I've gotta run and get the kids up for school so...until next time.
