Our Fallen

We received word this morning of the fate of our soldiers. The nine killed were indeed from 173d ABCT. We also had 14 wounded although none life threatening. I have added the names of the fallen to my sidebar and I pray that these are the last I have to add. This was one of the worst incidents in Afghanistan and the timing (with everyone due home so soon) exaggerated it. It has been a very rough time for all of our troops and their families. Please pray for us all.

I sent you a separate email, but wanted to remind you to hold your man especially tight when he gets home. Then squeeze him one more time for me.

Oh don't worry--that is a given. He's going to have a hard time getting me to let go.

Thank you for posting the names of the nine recent soldiers that lost their lives in Afghanistan on July 13, 2008.

I went to high school with SPC Jonathan Ayers. My family also goes to church with his parents and of course, they are beyond devastated. They have made the ultimate sacrifice.

God bless you for your loyalty to our troops. I will keep you and your family in my prayers until your soldier comes home safely.

This is the first time we have seen our loved one's name on the list.... Pruitt Rainey...
That makes it real....
As I am sure you can understand, we kept hoping that this was all a mistake.....but....
Pruitt was our big goofy teddy bear.
We loved him dearly and will miss him deeply..
I don't understand this and don't think I ever will... This was not suppose to happen to Pruitt or any one else, for that matter.
Pruitt's Nana, Linda, raised Pruitt and she needs lots of prayer. Many families, like mine, have been crushed by this terrible loss. Thank you for taking your time to help the grieving by posting this blog.
May God Bless You Dearly and hold all of those close that are touched by this tragedy.
Blessings,
The Allred Family:
Bryon, Patti, Tyler, Kyle & Brent Allred....North Carolina
Also, remember Pruitt's best friend in the whole world, Zack Cooper. Thanks!

My husband was the Student Pastor of Glen Hope Baptist Church where Pruitt Rainey was a member. Our whole church is devastated. Thank you for remembering Pruitt. It is so difficult to believe that this has really happened. Praying for the safety of your loved one. God bless you!

To the Allred family of North Carolina:

I am a TV journalist covering this story for a cable network. I came across your post and just wanted pause from my work to express my deepest sympathies for your loss and my sincere gratitude for you son's service and sacrifice. I've met a lot of dedicated soldiers in my years covering the DoD and dedicated families. One thing is true of all of them... they never get enough thanks and support.

You and your son will be in my prayers.

Larry,
This was the sweetest e-mail.
It meant so much to me..
Pruitt was actually Like my Son.
I claim him, but someone else gave birth to him. He was raised by his Nana, but we were fortunate to have a part in raising him, too.
He will be truly missed..
This has opened my eyes to the fact that many, many, families go through this terrible loss...
I don't understand it, but people like you, make it easier..
May God Bless You and Thanks again for the kind words,
Patti Allred
